ABS-CBN has bought the rights to make a tv version of the hit
vampire novel “Twilight”, ABS-CBN’s CEO, Euegenio Lopez III signed a
contract last December 6, 2008 for the tv adaptation of Twilight,
the rights cost a more than a million dollars, the taping is set to
start next year by February in Baguio, Tagaytay, Bukidnon and some
parts will tape outside the country. And it will be directed by
Cathy Garcia Molina, the tv adaptation will focus with the love
story between Edward and Bella, this is much more than a drama,
romance, but also fantasy. This is co-produce by Ignite Media Inc.

WHAT THE FLYING FUCK??? Takipsilim??? AMBITIOUS MUCH? if they bought the rights for more than a million dollars, why don’t they just hire a fresh creative team and make an original show??? or base it on another book, or komiks like Pugad Baboy! now that’s pinoy. just because Marimar bumped her station’s ratings to the top doesn’t mean every goddamn thing has to be remade!

i can accept chin-chin as Esme. she has this tim burton-ish thing going in her acting. wala labutay impression ah. haha. but karylle as rosalie? and gabby as Carlisle??? if you need me, i’ll be locking myself up in a tower and will be scratching my eyes out. and jusko! Edward Cullen is just so not pinoy! give me a pinoy with natural bronze colored hair and i’ll hang myself.

there were even protests when Robert Pattinson *drool* was cast. and the local Edward is what’s-his-face? how will they get the lines from the book to make it sound right on tv? as my cousin Max pointed out, how will Edward say, “and the lion fell inlove with the lamb?” at ang leon ay umibig sa tupa? AHAHAHAHA! and how about “do i dazzle you?” kumikinang ba ako sayo? AHAHAHAHAHA!

if i own ABS, i would scrap all the remake madness and hire film students. film students not just in manila but from other parts of the philippines as well. i know a lot of people who are just brimming–make that overflowing, with fantastic ideas. people that even with jurassic equipment can produce quality entertainment–ones that won’t turn your brains into mush. i am proud to be pinoy but this just bites.
